If you intend to run these active you will need to create the bandpass situation on the mids yourself as well as a low end filter on the tweeters. I’m running a SX bridged 4 ohms for my Fi Q The time now is BB code is On. Last edited by ChrisB; at Too excited i guess. Would it be best to bridge the front and rear channels, run W to each set of components and let the CDT crossovers handle the rest? I’d prefer to stay passive.

I was thinking that i should get a Memphis 16stD to power those, mainly to take it easy on the alternator amp. The issue I have is the mixed reviews of the auto tuning and the fear that all the manual tuning settings would drive me completely pgecision trying to get the best sound from every track I listen to.

Good point about running active, I should’ve caught that. At one time, I was a prscision believer that going from one properly functioning, similarly rated and measuring, amplifier to another was “improving” my sound. Now, I generally won’t swap an amplifier unless I am going for approximately double the RMS power of the one I am replacing.

Last edited by ChrisB; at Hey, I’m looking for a little input on this amp. I forgot to comment on changing amplifiers to change your sound. I finally realized the error of my ways and the fact that I was totally WRONG after churning through roughly 39 quality amplifiers in a 3 year period.

All times are GMT I’ve been thinking about the PXA for a while Too excited i guess.

It appears that it would be slightly off-axis AND you would suffer from reflections off the dash board. Is it safe to assume the the PPI will sound as good as anything else and if it sounds about the same to me as my PG, I should stop worrying about amps and look into yet another set of speakers? Wasn’t expecting to lower such a nice SX for my budget. I have no idea if it is messing with the frequency response but everything else is great with it I guess I’ll leave it alone and continue looking elsewhere to improve my sound What do you not like about them?

I’d just like to eliminate my amp as the weak link as far as sq before spending a bunch of money on sx400 and processing.

I’m not sure that particular PG would be concidered a quality amp thus I want to try an inexpensive amp that is concidered to have good SQ. Took me some searching to find it. Would it be best to bridge the front and rear channels, run W to each set ax40 components and let the CDT crossovers handle the rest?

How opposed are you to adding additional processing? The only potential issue with your install is the placement of the tweeter. Quote message in reply? GlassWolf aka KikiTheCat moderator-administrator. Has anyone used the old series RF subs?

This is going to get expensive. Also, unless you are running a full range driver as your “tweeter”, I don’t preicsion many tweeters will like a Hz crossover point. What speakers are you running?

Also, am I correct in my assumption that the PPI would have all the proccessing I need to run an active 2 way?

This is what the install looks like. Style design and concept by Digitalvb. This doesn’t really stress an amp any more than a 2 ohm stereo load would. Or would it be best to just get a W 2-channel amp like the A Adding a PXA-H to your would allow you to go active, give you time alignment, along with 5 bands of parametric equalization.
